This unjointed bit with a straight pole mouthpiece disperses pressure on the whole tongue width and the lower jaw bones. The bit may help when riding horses that tend to back off from the riders aids, for example when cantering to a fence. Eggbutts are suitable for horses with sensitive corners on their mouths, as they prevent them from being pinched, which can happen with loose ring snaffles.

I can recommend this bit to most people! It is stable in the mouth and does not pinch in the mouths, and is therefore fine for sensitive horses. Also suitable for horses that grow strong or run out. It is advisable to alternate between using the joint and the right bite to avoid pressure damage. Works perfectly for my fjord which is hard in the mouth but sensitive in the mouths. Does not fit very well with small mouth horses as the bit is a bit thick.
